Georgetown Urban Shoot w/ Zach Ruiz

I met Zach through a local photo meet up call StreetMeetDC. For those of you who don’t know what a photo meet up is, it’s an organized social event where photographers/videographers and models/creatives come together to collaborate and create. Zach and I shot a few images together without formally having a conversation. The outfit that he wore that day drew a lot of attention from many photographers so few words were actually spoken. After sending him the photos from the meet he reached out to me to set up a more formal photoshoot. We decided on an urban theme in Georgetown. He came prepared, recently having shot there earlier that week, dressed to the nine in a combination of Zara (pants)and Forever21(jacket). We walked through the streets and stopped whenever either of us had an idea. It was like our minds were overflowing with ideas and feeding off of each other. The day was full of its challenges. There wasn’t a single cloud in the sky, which is great for blue skies but not the best for lighting. So I had the opportunity to test my harsh sunlight chops. I made sure to expose for the sky and brought back details in the shadows in post. There is something about harsh sunlight photos that I love. The photos have a distinguishable look to them that is pretty cool in my eyes. We milked the sun as much as we could till the sun began to set and we both started getting tired.
